How Your Thoughts Can Affect Your Health

Have you ever wondered if there is any scientific evidence supporting the notion of spontaneous remission, faith healing and other described miracles? Until recently there hasn’t been much scientific information to support these claims, but this is not to say that they don’t occur, because they do. There also hasn’t been much information about what we can do to assist in our own healing, until now.
The latest information emerging from the science labs is that we now have the opportunity to play a part in our own healing. According to …

“Don’t spend a lot of time with old people, they just make you feel older,” my 96-year old grandmother told me at our latest luncheon.
After finishing off a large Caesar Salad and her second glass of Ice Tea, she stood and pointed to her new three inch caramel-colored Ferragamo heels she bought on sale. “Aren’t they just darling?” she asked.
“They match my sweater set just perfectly,” she said as she skimmed her body like a Miss USA contestant.
This continual zest for life and fun is just one trait that makes …

Reports: S. Korean told wide-awake blind date she’d ‘feel intense pleasure’
SEOUL, South Korea – A South Korean hypnotist has been fined for stealing a kiss on a blind date with a woman he thought he had put in a trance, according to news reports Thursday.
The 32-year-old man suggested hypnotizing his 27-year-old date during a meeting arranged by a matchmaking agency in August last year, the Dong-a Ilbo newspaper and Yonhap news agency reported.
The woman was eventually persuaded, and the hypnotist chanted: “Black hole! You will plunge deeper into a trance. …

This afternoon I had a (very rare) nap. During that nap I had a lucid dream (most of which I no longer remember). As I was waking up, I was thinking about my dream and thought that it would be a great idea to write a list about dreams for the site. So, here are the top 10 amazing facts about dreams.
10. Blind People Dream
People who become blind after birth can see images in their dreams. People who are born blind do not see any images, but have dreams equally …

Alex Rodriguez. Bobby Bonds. Jose Conseco. Andy Pettitte. Jason Giambi. Roger Clemens. Baseball players in the news, all of them in hot water for using illegal substances for a competitive edge.
As a former professional athlete with friends active in all areas of sports, I know that steroids and other illicit substances have permeated just about every sport. A feeling has sprung up among athletes that if you’re not on this stuff, you’re at a disadvantage. You’re just not going to be as good as the next guy.
But the secret to …

Hypnosis and Conversational Hypnosis are simply natural experiences that occur all the time. People spend their days going in and out of different trances and altered states of mind. If you think about it you probably access trances many times each day; when you day dream, become absorbed in a show or movie, when you become deep in thought or even immerse yourself fully in something you are reading. So hypnosis is complete and natural ways of letting your consciousness go free.
Humans are made as any animal …

If you are reading this, the good news is that you have a brain inside your head. And you have probably read about the emerging brain fitness movement: frequent articles in the media, an ongoing PBS special, more and more products and games.
Newsweek’s Sharon Begley recently wrote that “With the nation’s 78 million baby boomers approaching the age of those dreaded “where did I leave my keys?” moments, it’s no wonder the market for computer-based brain training has shot up from essentially zero in 2005 to $80 million this year, …

Functional magnetic resonance imaging of men and women under stress showed neuroscientists how their brains differed in response to stressful situations. In men, increased blood flow to the left orbitofrontal cortex suggested activation of the “fight or flight” response. In women, stress activated the limbic system, which is associated with emotional responses.
There are many books and movies that highlight the psychological differences between men and women – Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus, for example; but now, neurologists say they have brain images that prove male and female …

Too much thinking could make you fat, according to a new study.
Despite the low energy cost of mental work, students who participated in the research consumed 23.6 per cent more calories after intellectual tasks
Researchers found the stress of thinking caused overeating with heavy thinkers seeking out more calories.
The research team, supervised by Dr Angelo Tremblay, measured the spontaneous food intake of 14 students after each of three tasks.
The first was relaxing in a sitting position, the second reading and summarizing a text, and finally completing a series of memory, attention, …

What you think you become.
This is the idea behind Sensory Goal Setting, Creative Visualization, Sports Psychology and the Positive Thinking movement most known for people like Zig Ziglar, Dale Carnagie and Anthony Robbins.
If you picture yourself in negative scenarios you will end up in those scenarios and if you picture yourself in happy, healthy, successful scenarios you will end up happy, healthy and successful.
The popular expression “The Power of Positive Thinking” was first the title of a book by Norman Vincent Peale and later came to be a slogan for …
