Raise Your IQ 9 Points in 9 Minutes? No Problem!
What will you use it for? Before a job interview? Studying for an exam? To return to balance after an argument?
You may have already heard of the “Mozart Effect”, a term first coined by Dr Alfred Tomatis who used Mozart’s music as the listening stimulus in his work attempting to cure a variety of disorders. The approach has been popularized in a book by Don Campbell, who trademarked the term, and is based on an experiment published in Nature suggesting that listening to Mozart temporarily boosted students’ intelligence.
You may also have heard of ”Baby Mozart”, which is classical music that expecting mom’s play (picture them with headphones on their bellies) to their unborn fetus’ since it has been proven to improve brain development in the growing brain, particularly in the last month of pregnancy. The Governor of Georgia, Zell Miller, even proposed a budget to provide every child born in Georgia with a CD of classical music for that very reason.
As more research is done we are discovering that certain classical music is actually Miracle Gro for our own brain at any age! For example, human brains respond to ten minutes of Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, K 448, by immediately becoming 8 to 9 IQ points smarter!
This “act of intelligence” is initiated in the limbic brain, the seat of our most basic, instinctual emotions. The IQ returns to normal about 15 to 20 minutes later.
